Attitudes In 1906, Italian economist Vilfredo Pareto created a mathematical for- mula to describe the unequal dis- tribution of wealth in his country, observing that 20% of the people owned 80% of the wealth. The 80/20 Rule suggests that 20% of something accounts for 80% of the results. In sales, for example – 20% of the sales- people sell 80% of the product. In a service club – 20% of the people do 80% of the work. By the office wa- ter cooler – 20% of the people do 80% of the complaining. The 80/20 Rule works and has been applied to almost everything around. Almost everything, except people’s attitudes, that’s where I come in. The 80/20 Rule applied it to attitudes says – 20% of the people are respon- sible for 80% of the positive attitudes. I’ll continue and say only 20% of people have a positive attitude 80% of the time or more. 80% of people are only positive 20% of the time. That means that only 2 out of 10 people are mostly positive (80% or more). The other 8 are mostly nega- tive (only positive 20% of the time).

There is an old theory that goes, “How You Speak Becomes Your Reality.” Are you living this theory right now? Listen to the content of what you say. Do the words you speak match the life you live?
